Preconditions:
1. User has registered / logged in with a user id / password
2. User has defined his role --- whether he is a technology enthusiast, or
an executive / CIO, or a marketing / biz-dev professional.
Post conditions:
None.
Main Success
Scenario (MSS):
1. Based on user’s role, user is provided an appropriate list of research
doc titles.
2. User clicks on a title, and is taken to webpage which displays the
executive summary of the research, and a button to add the research to
the shopping cart.
3. The user clicks the Add to the Shopping Cart button.
4. The user is taken to the webpage where he is given three options: Save
the Shopping Cart, Continue Browsing, and Checkout.
(Note: To
emphasize, feel free to use italics, underlining, or bold as appropriate.
We are using the bold format here, because these three options trigger
the extensions to the MSS as shown in the examples below in the next
row dealing with these alternate scenarios or extensions.)
5. User clicks on Checkout.
6. The Use Case UC0NM dealing with credit card payment is triggered.
(Note: this is an example of how Use Case writers should use good
judgment on use case granularity. So, during execution, this use case
UCONN invokes a separate use case UCONM. The reason could be
anything… Perhaps, as you can visualize, there might be other
applications which also use credit card processing, and hence a
separate use case UC0NM for credit card processing subsequent to
user decision to purchase…)
7. Use Case UCONM processing is complete --- it notifies this use case
that the system receives the payment successfully.
